Sorry I cannot translate, I hope one of you will do this:
The reason we’ve had to close the site is because it is hosted on a legacy platform that we either need to close, as planned, or migrate the code from. The site is very old and none of the current staff really know how it’s made, so we’d be looking at getting in some contractors to transfer it over as we have work on Mousebreaker.com that is a higher priority for us at the moment. The costs involved would far outweigh the small amount of ad revenue we make from the site, so this is why we plan on closing it.
I suspect, therefore, that the cost required to simply keep the site open on a new platform will prove prohibitive. We've estimated the cost of transferring it at around £20,000, which sounds high but there are a number of complexities because of the age of the site. For us to prioritise the migration we would be looking at considerably more than this.
If this isn’t entirely prohibitive we can look at some more detailed cost analyses, but if it is then unfortunately the site will still be closing next week as planned.
We have a serious option here, finally. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT AS A GROUP OF PLAYERS, WE COULD RAISE £20,000.
I am personally willing to put in £1,000. Other UK players have said they will help also. But the UK won't be able to do this alone.
Can the German teams / players help? How about the French and Spanish players? IF THERE IS A WILL, THERE **IS** A WAY TO SAVE CLASSIC PFYC. Will you help?
